2017, Name Game, The “R” Year

Fools Gold and Pele (Penny)

It’s time for the Fifth Annual Wild In The Pryors, “Name Game”!  This is the post where any of you can suggest names for the 2017 foals born in the Pryors.  Of course, like on all the previous years, I can not guarantee that they will be used, but it will be fun to list them, and I do know that every time I discovered a foal, I came to this post to look at all of the suggestions.  And if you can, please include the meaning for the name, it would be very helpful to know that when deciding which name should go with whatever mare/band had the foal.

In 2000, the BLM started using a letter for each year of foals, starting with A.  This year is the R year.  So please feel free to list your ideas in the comment section of this post.  To read more about this system and why we use names, please refer to my Name Game post that I did last in 2013.  Click on Name Game to go there.

I am looking forward to reading all of your suggestions!  If someone else has already posted your name idea, please list it again anyway.  It will be fun to see what the most popular name suggestions are!  Thank you!

Sandy

  • Hi i would like to make a few suggestions myself.

Red raven or Raven for a descendent of Raven or Red Raven

Rob Roy in case Jasmine or Shadow have a foal, since i like the Black Beauty book, ideally the Black or Cscade would be fit for that name but sadly they most likely won’t foal

    Rising sun(for anyone)

    Rising star(for anyone)

Reverie which means a daydream or a state in which you dream, i can imagine a filly with that name

    Riverside

Ryuki which means dragonrider in Japanese for a dynamic cold

Rocky mountain or Rockies for a dynamic colt

Rockstar for a dynamic cold of Galaxy

Reykjavik which is Iceland’s capital city

Rain in reminiscent for Velvet’s daughter

Rowtag which means fire in native american

    and finally

Reina which means queen for a filly with attitude

Ps of course i with Rainstorm for Firestorm like most of the people

Sorry for the long list, as you said is fun giving suggestions and at least you will read them even if you already decided on different ones

  • Hello 🙂
My favorite name for a stall is Florek from the name of Florian ( it’s a short, stocky horse, with a fantastic personality if you can describe the character of a horse, patient, calm, intelligent ) and I do not know why this name really reflects its advantages … but it’s so marginal. I have some suggestions, I’ve read before and I like it and here I repeat with names but the choice belongs to you …

Ruffian – a troublemaker, adventurer, provocateur
    Randy – noisy, flashy, vibrant
    Rocky – tough, tenacious,
Rosette – handsome, kind, modest, calm
    Rumba – busy, filkierna
    Revia – slim, lightweight, matronly

  • I’m a little late to the game, but since Nova just foaled I looked up some celestial names that would go well with her name and Kitalpha’s name.
    Realta- “star” – Gaelic
    Raiya/Raiyana- “heaven”- Russian
    Raveena/Ravina- “the sun” -Sanskrit
    Rodasi- “Heaven and earth”- Sanskrit
Rosalind- one of the moons of Uranus

  • For colts it would be:
    Raphael,
    Rio,
    Rebel,
    Ramesses,
    Rajah,
    Rojo,
    Radagast,
    Rohan,
Roheryn, means “horse of the lady,” horse of Aragorn from LOTR,
    Ranger,
    Remington,
    Ralph,
    Rambo,
    Ronan,
    Rex,
    Rubeus,
    and Robin.

    For fillies:
    Ruby,
    Rose,
    Rosebud,
    Rain,
    Rainstorm,
    Raincloud,
    Rainbow,
    River,
    Roja,
    Rahab,
    Rosa,
    Rowan,
    Rhianna,
    and Ravena

  • Ragnar or Ragnor,, Norse, strong counselor
    Runa, Norse, mighty strength
    Reseda, Spanish, fragrant flower

  • Hi i recently saw a photo of Jasmine with a large bellie. I know nothing is 100% sure till the foal comes, but if she is indeed pregnant , this will be her first offspring Cloud’s and Aztec’s grandchild!!! and i know that Aztec ‘s line is represented by her mother’s other kids, but its nice that she can continue her legacy,(hopefully Hailstorm will get her chance someday. Also its something nostalgic, since it reminds me the old Cloud band, with Sitka, Velvet ,Aztec and , Jasmine and her baby could be a continuation of that. For the above reasons i got really excited and wanted to suggest a few more names for Jasmine , just for the fun of it:

For a girl: Rainstorm, since she is in the same band with Firestorm, Hailstorm is her sister and its a nice connection to cloud
Rubini or Ruby: i thinks it fits with the name jasmine being a princess
Rose or Rosebudor Romneya or Rhrode or Rodgercia , a flower name if we derive Jasmine from the plant
Riverside or River or Riverstream: connecting with her grandmother’s name Winnemucca which is a great lake in Nevada

    For boys:
Richmond not a pretty name but it connects with Doc which was a nice western film in the 70″s(i confess i don’t know how Doc was given its name or what it means)
Riderstorm a nice strong name connecting with cloud
    Raincloud-kind of obvious
Rio-conncetion with Aztec his grandmother , since Rio is in Mexico and Aztec thrived in Mexico

So yeah this post is dedicated to Jasmine, i really hope we see mares that haven’t foal yet or don’t have an offspring in the ranch pleasantly surprise us this year, of course give us the right nummer of foals so nobody has to be removed.

I hope you like my suggestions and pass it on the day Jasmine gives birth, (I hope she really is pregnant!!!!)
