Below is a list of all of the current foals born this year on the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range. I have them listed in the order in which they were discovered.
There were only two foals this year in which we know the exact day that they were born. Ginger was there shortly after Nimbus was born and I was there when Nacer was born. So I have listed the approximate week in which the others were born.
1. Noble, filly. NPS discovered her on April 25, 2014. Parents: Helenium and Duke. Week of birth: April 14-25, 2013.
2. Nodin, colt. My friend Anh and I discovered Nodin way up Sykes Ridge Road on April 29, 2013. He looked to be quite young, so I am listing his birth date week as April 21-28th, 2013.
Nodins parents are Fiasco and Custer.
3. Norte, colt. On our way back down Sykes Ridge Road, Anh and I discovered Norte. His parents are Waif and Corona. He looked a lot older than Nodin. So I am listing his week of birth as April 7-14.
4. Nye, filly. The next day (April 30) Anh and I discovered the 4th foal of 2013. Nye’s parents are Galena and Jackson. Birthdate: week of April 28, 2013.
5. Nimbus, filly. Ginger of The Cloud Foundation discoved Nimbus on the day she was born (May 6) Feldspar and Cloud are her parents. Date of birth: May 6th, 2013.
6. Niyaha, filly. Discovered by TCF. Parents: Audobon and Morning Star. Week of birth: April 28th- May 5th, 2013.
7. Nirvana, filly. Discovered by TCF. Parents: Halcyon and Blue Moon. Week of birth: April 28-May 5th, 2013.

12. Nickel, colt. Discovered by Chris Reed, Lynne Pomeranz and Linda Dombeck. Parents: Fools Gold and Coronado. Week of birth: June 23, 2013.
13. Naolin, colt. Discovered by Linda Dombeck. Parents: Graciana and Duke. Week of birth: June 23, 2013.
14. Nacer, filly. Nacer was born near my tent on the morning of July 9, 2013. Parents: LaBrava and unknown Stallion. Deceased. Date of birth: July 9, 2013. You can read more about Nacer by clicking on NACER.
15. Nova, filly. Nova was discovered by my friend Anh on July 21, 2013. Parents: Kitalpha and most likely Bristol. Week of birth: June 9-16, 2013.
16. Nahwa, colt. Discovered by Anh, September 18, 2013. Parents: Washakie and Baja. Week of birth: September 11-18, 2013.
17. Niña, Filly. Discovered by NPS on October 24, 2013. Parents: Bakken and unknown father. Possible sire could be Fiero or Blizzard. Week of birth: October 6-13, 2013.
As of this date, that is all of the foals that have been discovered. If I learn of any more, I will up date this post with their photos and information.
Total live foals to date: 15.

Thanks for putting this together! It’s amazing how much they change too. I think Nodin and Noble had the most unexpected changes this year. Niyaha and Niobrara look different since they’re roans, but I think we all expected the two of them would roan out.
You are welcome Sarah! I agree, Nodin and Noble look very different. But I also thought Norte really changed as well and I think Nye has turned out stunning! 🙂
Thank you for drawing up the list! It’s very useful, seeing which foal belongs to which parents – and it’s really neat seeing the way their coats shed out. Noble is a real beauty!
You are welcome Kate! Yes, Noble is a really beauty, I just love her coloring and she has a really great personality to match it! 🙂
Thanks Sandy, I now can put faces with names regarding the little ones. I’m still not very good with the adults but I will get there thanks to you. Have you heard anything about Nahwa ? With the recent weather up there I have been worrying about him.
I have not heard anything about any of the horses. I am really wanting to go over, but still waiting for the government to reopen so I can also check on the Dryhead horses.
Thanks Jeanne!
Thanks so much for this Sandy. You saved me considerable research time to come up with all this info, which I intended to do. The foals are all so beautiful, and it’s so interesting to see the changes. There is something captivating about each and every one.
I, too, am wondering how much snow was dumped on the mountain by that storm, and hoping that littlest baby, and all the others, were safely away from the worst of it.
You are welcome Linda! Yes, all of them have been on mind, I will be glad when I can make a trip over there to see how they are doing.
Thanks so much, sandy. I try to keep track of the foals. This is a real help.
You are welcome Karen!
I was just the other day looking at the blog where you were speculating about the 2013 foals to come 🙂
They are all so beautiful….although I must admit that I find it hard to see the picture of Nacer. I am glad that you were on the mountain those days to record her life although at the same time I know it must have been awful to watch.
It is really amazing to see how much the foals have changed.
They are all beautiful.
I had just been looking at you blog about the expected foals of 2013 the other day so this blog was very welcome.
It is hard to see the picture of Nacer but I am glad you were there to witness her few days even though it must have been awfully hard. She was a beautiful foal.
Thank you Thora. It is hard for me to look at sweet Nacer. But I am glad that I was there to record her short life.
Thanks for putting all of this information together Sandy, and for all of the fantastic photo’s! They sure do change from month to month…even week to week!!! Love seeing all of them. It warmed up considerably this past week, but the snow is still up there with more in the forecast over the weekend and especially Monday. I am sure that the horses have come down from the top and are staying out of the bad weather, after all they have been doing this for years. I do hope and pray that the 2013 foals survive, and especially the ones born late!
That Norma Jean sure is a beauty…also Naolin, Niobrara, & Nova…..OH hell…they all are so beautiful!!!! 🙂 Thanks again Sandy…great job!!
You are welcome Lori!
Sandy, thank you for putting together this list. It is very helpful!
Thanks Chris! It was really fun to put together! I loved looking at their changes.
Have been enjoying the update on the 2013 foals and learning their parents. Thank you for providing that. Has been fun comparing the early photos with the ones I took in September and seeing the changes. Am anxious for your return to the mountains and learning how all are doing. One horse I have been wondering about is Jemez. What do you know of him?
Have been enjoying the update on the 2013 foals and learning more about each one. Thank you for providing that information. It’s been fun looking at the early photos of them and comparing with the ones I took while there in September. Am anxious for your return to the mountain and hearing how all are getting along since the recent snowstorms. One horse I have been wondering about is Jemez. What do you know of him?
Hi Donna! I have not heard much about Jemez. I know Nancy from the PMWMC saw him in mid-September with Durango when she was heading down Sykes.
Anyone else notice that Norma Jean looks pretty much EXACTLY like Nate/Nation, Kelly’s colt?
Not exactly. Norma Jean does not have the two white hinds that Nation has. 🙂
