Remember Kelly? She is the Pryor horse that was removed last July during the bait trapping. Shortly after she was adopted (by Lisa Friday) and moved to her home at Legacy Mustang Preservation, it was discovered that she was pregnant.

I, like probably many others stopped watching quite so faithfully as the days turned into months. I silently wondered if she really was pregnant. But as her tummy begin to get bigger and bigger, it was very apparent that she was. Then I wondered if perhaps she was caring twins. I hoped not, as the outcome for twins born to a horse is not often good. I just hoped everything was okay. I checked in on her once or twice a day.

This morning, the waiting ended, as Kelly gave birth to a beautiful black colt with a stunning white star on his forehead and a right hind sock. He is beautiful. I know all baby foals are beautiful, but for some reason this little guy just has more beauty. Perhaps it is where he was conceived. Wild and free in the Pryor Mountains. Whatever the reason for my new love, I do know I will be following his growth.

Thank you Lisa Friday and Legacy Mustang Preservation for giving him a home. I know he is in the best of hands.

Kelly Addiction

Kelly is one of the horses that was removed in the summer. She was removed on July 25, 2012, along with 3 other horses that day.

After going through the adoption auction one time without a bid, she was purchased on the second round for $125.00 by Lisa Friday.

Kelly along with 8 other Pryor Horses then made the journey to Louisa, Virginia to Legacy Mustang Preservation. You can read more about Legacy by clicking on their name or by going to their website: Website.

Shortly after Kelly arrived in Virginia it was discovered that she was pregnant. And so this brings us to the title: Kelly Addiction!

After discovering her pregnancy, Legacy Mustang installed a camera so we could all watch Kelly and hopefully be able to witness the birth of the newest Pryor Horse. You can click on KELLY and it will take you to the camera link. I must warn you though, it can be addictive!

By watching this link you have the opportunity to not only see Kelly, but also the other 8 Pryor horses that were removed. The other horses to join Kelly in Virginia are: Lilly, Judith, Kayenta, Kalahari, Klamath, Krystal, Jenny and Kiva.

You may also witness Legacy working with the horses. Their approach is one of patience and kindness, a method I very much respect and enjoy getting a glimpse of.

So for those of you that are already watching Kelly, I thought I would do a post and tell you a little about her when she was still Wild in the Pryors.

Kelly was born in the Pryor Mountains of Montana in 2010. She was born into Morning Star’s band. Her mother is a beautiful grulla mare named Gaelic Princess and her father is Morning Star.

Three of Kelly’s grandparents are still running free in the Pryors. The other, Plenty Coup, died on the mountain in 2001 after being struck by lighting.

The stallion Prince and his mare Ireland are Galelic Princess’s parents.

The mare Washakie and the stallion Plenty Coups are Morning Star’s parents.

My friend Linda and I spent a couple of hours early one morning watching Kelly with her family band last June. Below are some of Linda’s photos that she took in June. Kelly was having fun that day playing with Lander, a yearling from Jackson’s band.

Removal Updates, July 25, 2012 # 9, 10, 11 & 12

Four more horses were removed today. They are Kyrstal, Judith, Lenape and Kelly.

Krystal is the 2010 daughter of Feldspar and Blue Moon.

Judith is the 2009 daughter of Halcyon. She was with the stallion Santa Fe. I will miss Judith. In my post in May I said that every time I saw Judith it involved running. I will miss her and all that running. You can read that post by clicking JUDITH.

Kelly and Lenape are in Morning Star’s band. Kelly is the 2010 daughter of Gaelic Princess and Morning Star. Lenape is the 2011 daughter of Hataalii and Morning Star.
