June Mountain Top. Part 2

Wild in the Pryors

The light each day and night was incredible.  The clouds just adding to the beauty.  Meg and I both commented several times how our photos would look as if we did PhotoShop to them.  Something I have never done.  And why would I need to?  The scenery is unbelievable.

Santa Fe is dogging Coronado’s band, just like last summer.  I watched that go on for several months and then abruptly end in late August.  Now Santa Fe is doing it again.  I hope gets and settles for either LaBrava or Manuelita, or both.

I was happy to see Cloud looking and acting much better than when I saw him last.

The Odd Couple’s band continues to grow, with the addition of Lariat, who looks very pregnant to me.  It will most likely be Garay’s, as I saw him breed her last July.  Tonapah looks amazing for 28 years young!

Winnemucca (27 this year) in Custer’s band looks great as well.  I will have some good photos of her and Fiasco in the next post.

Hope you enjoy the photos!

I will have to have one more post.  The next one will show some excitement with Bolder’s band.  Yes, I do believe that Bolder wishes he had kicked Killian out a year or more ago.

  • Not a lot of time to comment right now, but I’ve got to say great post—great pics! Some things that struck me most are that it’s good to see Dove looking good this spring, I’m glad to see Nimbus looking somewhat better, and I can hardly believe the change in size and maturity of London! He’s really getting to be beautiful. I’m really looking forward to seeing him again. Looking forward to your next post. I’m betting you’re absolutely right about Bolder and Killian. LOL! I probably shouldn’t say LOL, tho, cause maybe it won’t end up all that funny for Bolder.

  • Oh, and I had to kind of chuckle seeing that Nickle is his precocious self and it’s great that he’s tall enough now to see over his momma’s back without rearing up on her. LOL!

  • Manuelita is beautiful! There have been some truly lovely fillies born in the last few years – Manuelita, Maia, Noble, Nimbus to name just a few. Nimbus does look very young and small in these pictures, though, especially when compared to Noble.

The shots of London and Knight fighting are really quite something. Knight is definitely getting all cut up. Just looking at him, Fiesta and Custer you can see what a beating the stallions take in defending and fighting for mares!

I’m interested in the update on Bolder’s band. I imagine Killian is trying to make off with some of the mares … and possibly succeeding, much to Bolder’s disgust.

  • Wow, the lighting in these photos truly is amazing! I am also very happy to see Cloud doing so well again. It looks like he’s even had some time to enjoy playing in a mud hole! I think Ingrid will foal this year. I bet Ohanzee will love having a sibling, especially one his age. I am imagining all of the trouble they will get themselves into! It’s been a few years since there have been multiple foals in Cloud’s band. I bet the band will enjoy that. Ingrid is such a great mother, I’m glad she’ll have another foal of her own to dote on. Hopefully Red Raven and Santa Fe won’t take things too far this summer. I would love for M’lita and/or La Brava to go with him. I’m not sure if La Brava will leave her mother though. Rachel said when she was there that M’lita kept trying to flirt with Santa Fe but he was a total gentleman and rebuffed her advances. She said he was focusing his attention on Dove. Was he still doing that while you were there? I have a feeling Dove and M’lita will try to stay together, wherever they end up. I can not believe how much London has matured in this past year! Every since I saw him as a foal I knew he would grow into a very handsome stallion. He looks so great and is so gorgeous. I look forward to watching him continue to mature. Poor Encore. She’s covered in teeth marks. And she’s got that pretty good sized one on her right front leg. Even though she seems to like Knight I hope he loses her to another stallion. Hopefully a band stallion with other mares. Or even just a more older and experienced stallion. I’ve been hoping Encore and the boys will come across Irial or Grijala and one of them would take her. Either of them would be strong enough to hold her on their own. But Knight has been smart in trying to keep her away from that bachelor group. I know many people have hoped, me included, that maybe Knight could take her and break away from the other bachelors but I just don’t think that’s going to happen. He’s filled out a lot, but at only four he is just not mature enough and strong enough to be able to do that. He’s not going to be able to separate from the other bachelors or even fight them off. Him and Inali have been going at it for weeks with no real success for either of them. I just don’t see the situation improving. Knight is only going to get more worn down as this continues. I think he will eventually lose her and hopefully that is when HER situation will improve. He already lost her temporarily while you were there so I have a feeling that is a sign of things to come. I mean I give him credit. He has tried and tried and been so determined to keep her and had held onto her for far longer than many of us had anticipated. He’s just not strong enough yet to hold onto her permanently. I think Lariat is pregnant too. I think she will be a good Mom. She learned from the best, her mother Madonna. And Tonopah will be a great influence to have as well. I look forward to seeing this band with a foal. I think they will really enjoy it. Horizon and Juniper seemed to really like having Jovianna’s foal with them for that short time. I also look forward to the day that Juniper will have her own foal 🙂

  • I agree, the lighting really is fantastic and the fog makes for some stunning pictures. Nimbus looks especially ethereal in the fog (as others have mentioned 🙂 ) poor girl looks like she has her fair share of scars and marks though. I’m glad she seems to like Knight as that must make her current situation a bit easier but I also think a more mature band setting would be what’s best for her (and ultimately Knight- like many have said he’s only wearing himself down). I do love those pictures of Knight and London fighting-they are very dramatic! London has really matured! I didn’t realise it was him at first glance!

Coronado’s band looks really good and I hope Santa Fe dogging them doesn’t wear anyone down too much. If only the two fillies would head off with him (though Manuelita is a teeny bit young in my opinion-not that she seems to think so from what I hear!) Glad to hear Tonapah and Winnemuca are still doing so great!

    • Thank you Abbie. I would rather see Manuelita leave now, at 2 then to get stuck staying in this band too long. Santa Fe would most likely take very good care of her. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

  • The Odd Couple still has 2 stallions in it? How interesting!

I did not recognize Cloud because he was so dirty. Sort of reminds me of my dog since I have a white bichon. As soon as they get a little bit of mud on them, they look like a different animal.

    Nimbus is also so gorgeous!

  • I absolutely love the cloud cover 🙂 It brings out some of the rich colors! I especially like the ones with Nimbus with the fog behind her 🙂
Who did Meriweather end up with I wonder?
