Pryor Foal # 9, 2014 (deceased)

Pryor Foal number 9.  A colt born to Demure and most likely Doc.  Discovered today by Ginger (TCF) reported on the PMWMC website.  Thank you Livi for bringing this to my attention!

Thank you Jack Sterling for providing these photos of Demure and Omaha.

I can now take another horses off of the “possible missing” list which makes me really happy!

So thankful that Demure had a healthy foal.  Last year her foal died a few weeks after it was born.   I will post photos as soon as I can.  The colt will be named Omaha.  This foal was missing on May 25, 2014 (by TCF).  I now have her listed as deceased.

Demure is the 2003 daughter of Broken Bow and Two Boots.  Doc is the 2003 son of Winnemucca and Little Foot.

At the time of this discovery, Demure and her colt are with the young bachelor stallion Jupiter.

  • Yay!! That is so great! I’m glad to hear this! I had a feeling she must have been picked up by a bachelor. Interesting though that the first day Encore/Nimbus was with the bachelors, Jupiter was seen with them so he obviously didn’t have her at that moment. Wouldn’t surprise me if she was floating around by herself. But good for Jupiter! It will be interesting to see if he keeps her or maybe I should say if she stays. But good for him! It would be nice if Doc got to raise his own son though. There’s so much going on right now that definitely could factor in. This being Jupiter’s first mare, Doc having Brumby and Moorcroft who will likely end up back with Jackson, Broken Bow being with Mescalero. I look forward to seeing how it plays out. Even if it’s not permanent, I hope Jupiter enjoys his time as a band stallion like we saw Indigo do last year. I look forward to seeing pictures of this baby! I’m sure it will be gorgeous!

  • I LOVE that picture! So that would be Malpais/Mandan when he was a baby, right? They are all so gorgeous, but this pic sure does show Broken Bow’s webbing on her face, and other cool markings as well. She’s just beautiful, in my opinion. My excitement at looking at pics of these horses just doesn’t get any less, no matter how many I see. 🙂 Thanks for the news, and for sharing the pics. I agree that’s it’s pretty exciting that Jupiter is being a band stallion, and it will be very interesting to see how that goes, too. If he and Demure would have a foal next year, it should be one of the most beautiful grays out there, shouldn’t it? 🙂 I’m getting behind in keeping track of all these new foals. Got to go so I can get caught up. 🙂

  • Such fantastic news!! So glad to hear Demure is safe and sound and has a healthy colt! Any word on the colour of the colt? And good for Jupiter-I’ve always admired him, he strikes me as one of the most mature younger bachelors so probably a good fit, all things considered!

    And I agree with Linda-it’s a beautiful picture! 🙂

  • So good that Demure was discovered!:) And to have her show up with Jupiter makes me so happy! His first mare (that we know of)!! 😀 It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If he manages to keep her they’ll make a stunning couple:) Can’t wait to see her new foal as well. I really hope he will grow up into a big and strong stallion.
As for poor Doc, he can’t seem to keep a band for a very long time. Is it just bad luck? He definitly seems determind to hold on to his mares. I remember the time Demure left the band temporarily last year, and how distressed he was then.
On a side-note.. was Broken Bow two when she gave birth to Demure, or is she from before the naming system?

    Yay for Jupiter again!!! 😉

    • Broken Bow was named before the naming system. She was born in 1993, making her 10 when Demure was born.

As for Doc. I don’t know what is going on with him. Did Demure leave him again this year, or did he leave her this time to fight with Cloud? I guess we will never know. But I do hope he gets a chance to raise a son of his own. With Gold Rush and London taken (or did he leave!!!) by Garay, he did not get the chance to raise London.

Yes, Jupiter is a very tough young and handsome stallion. If he is unable to keep her, I am sure it won’t be long before he gets another.
