I am sitting at home in Western Montana, waiting for the government to re-open so I can plan a trip to the Pryors. I know that I would be able to go up both Sykes and Burnt Timber, but I also like to check on the Dryhead horses. With the government closure of the National Parks, I am unable to do that. So I will wait until they re-open before I head east.
The last several days have been warm and sunny. I have had some much-needed time to work with Kiowa and Kootenai. They both are doing great, but I have had some really great breakthroughs recently with Kiowa, which I will share at a later time.
In many ways it is so good to be home for a while, but I feel the pull in my heart to head to the Pryors.
My good friend Anh sent me several photos that she took of Baja and band when she was there a few weeks ago. I asked her if I could share them and of course she said yes, so I am going to post them for us to look at while we all wait.
Thank you so much Anh!
Sandy

So cute! Hope they’re all doing well after the snow.
I hope they are doing well too. Hope to see for myself sometime this month.
Thank you for sharing, Anh, and Sandy. It must have been so very nice to spend that time observing the family. And that foal is so darn precious! 🙂
You are welcome Linda! I wish I had been there with Anh to watch this family. 🙂
I love that toothless yawn! He is so cute. Those are great pictures of him running and having fun too. And love that one of him spreading those long legs out trying to get a drink. I think my favorite is of him laying down with the beautiful blue sky behind him. It’s really great to see Topper Too taking such an involved and caring role in the band. When Nodin first comes to play with Nahwa you can see Topper Too giving him a warning and being protective of Nahwa. Then when Washakie pins her ears at Nodin and begins to move Nahwa away you can see Topper Too is quick to move in and get rid of Nodin. I also really enjoyed the picture of her grooming with Washakie. With such a bonded family, especially the mares too, it gives me more confidence for him to make it through the winter. And all three girls plus Baja are all looking nice and plump! Hopefully the park will reopen soon! I know we all want you to be able to make a trip out there again! And I’m really hoping someone can find Bakken.
Thanks Sarah. I emailed Cass (NPS) before the closer to ask if they seen Bakken. They had not, but she was going to let me know if they did. Now with the closer, they can’t.
Thank you for the pics sandy!!! its great to see all those old faces!!! 🙂
looking forward to seeing part 2!!!
UUUUPpss! wrong post!
