I spent 3 days/nights in on the mountain top this trip. I wish it could have been longer. The fall colors (sky, earth) were so beautiful. It seems each season/month on the mountain has its own beauty and I love them all.
The clouds were taking on their fall formations and gave me many opportunities to capture them, adding an even more dramatic backdrop to an already incredible canvas. I promise I will make several posts sharing my photos and stories.
I won’t make you wait to hear this: I never found Baja and his band. So I do not know if Washakie has had her foal.
However on this trip I did find some very incredible people. Like most times I am up on the mountain, I talk and meet the other people who are camping on top. Yva and John stopped by my campsite to introduce themselves. We instantly liked each other and ended up spending many hours talking, watching the horses and sharing food.
Yva and John have been coming to see the Pryor Horses since 1995. So they had many stories to tell about the things they have witnessed over the years.
Not only are they Pryor Mountain Wild Horses lovers, they also have traveled the world photographing other wildlife. What an incredible privilege it was to be with them. Hearing their experiences with the horses and other wild animals were not only amazing, but very educational.
I was not able to access their website while on the mountain, but once I got home I spent several hours on it. Click on MomatuikEastcott to go there. They have had their work published in National Geographic, Smithsonian and many other publications.
I do not believe I have ever seen photos as beautiful as theirs. Both Yva and John are equally as beautiful as their photos, inside and out and I look forward to crossing paths with them many more times. Thank you so much, you are both angels.

But it’s a good envy, with happiness FOR YOU. 🙂 Looking forward to your next posts—still working on my reminiscences. 🙂 Hopefully, we’ll get word from someone on Washakie, but if not, it is what it is and there’s really nothing we can do about it. We can at least know they are out there in that beautiful place, living, and dying, the way Nature intends, for the most part. It’s not a half bad destiny in today’s world, in my estimation. 🙂

Me too, but I guess I’m getting “used to”, not getting the answers I want when I want them—like Starman and Prince. 🙁
Oh, and on the subject of waiting for answers, do you remember when the decision about the Administrative Pastures will be coming out? I can look it up, but it’s so much faster to just ask you first. 🙂

I think we are supposed to hear soon on that. I know there is going to be an Administrative clean up day in October. But, I believe that it won’t be open until Fall of 2014.
I look forward reading your stories and seeing all the pictures! I’m happy to hear you made new friends too. I’m sure you very much enjoyed hearing their stories. On another note, LaBrava really looks good. I’m happy she’s come out of the entire Nacer situation and any potential pain/complications you witnessed that day, as well as she has. Hopefully we’ll see more beautiful foals from her in the years to come. I’ve also noticed how dark Adona has been this year. I actually really love seeing her so dark. She didn’t lighten nearly as quickly as the other blue roans this year, including Blue Sioux, and she’s already darkened up pretty good again. There’s just so many things to notice with these horses 🙂 I often notice new things when I go over old pictures too.
