Listed below are all the horses that will be offered for adoption.

This gave me a good opportunity to go through my photos and remember each horse.  This is my tribute to them.

UPDATE: September 8, 2012. By each name is the price that they were sold at the adoption today.

A look at Britton Springs. The horses are being held here until the adoption. Photo by Joy Vancos.

  1. Wow Sandy, this is really great! You should share this with Jared maybe to share out; so much better to see them in the wild instead of photos of them in the pens for anyone thinking of adopting!

      1. What does The Cloud Foundation call the foals of Juneau,Raulita(Jicarllia), Kaycee, Kesrtel(Kaelia) and Joviana?

  2. LOVE this post—even tho it pulls at my heartstrings…
I know you are having a hard time deciding on who to adopt, but I hope you’re considering Kootenai, since Lakota was his daddy. And he is beautiful on top of that. Just sayin’. It’s got to be hard on the nerves, coming “down to the wire”. The thing is, whatever horse you end up with will be a very lucky one. 🙂

      1. How is Valerosa, by the way? I’ll bet she’s happy to see you when you come home from your adventures—and your other animals, too.

  3. What a special tribute to all of those wild ones who will not get to live out their lives on the range.
    Beautiful Sandy!!!
I did not get to go out to Britton Springs this past Tuesday, but wil be there on Saturday to check on the horses.
Our shelter is coming along…and soon we will be starting on the corral.
We are all so excited…this is going to be great for the Center..and of course Liesl and whoever else we adopt!!!
    I agree with Linda…..”Kootenai”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Sandy, thank you for taking the time for this post and continuing to update. I’ve traveled from Oklahoma to WY 3 times now and taken the time to see this herd every time. They are special to me because years ago they were the first wild horse herd I had seen. If I lived closer I would adopt one of these beauties but I don’t worry about them much because horses from the Pryors are always adopted. I hate for any of them to lose their freedom but understand why some must. Thank you for letting me see them through you camera and your friends as well. I so appreciate your blog and all of your efforts.

  5. Beautiful tribute! First saw some of the Pryor herd in the early 80’s while shooting some of the photos for Big Horn Country, An Introductory Guide by Jerry Sanders. I have recently moved back to Montana and would love to adopt one of the Pryor horses but don’t have any suitable land to meet adoption requirements. In the mean time I’m hoping to find an opportunity to volunteer to work with mustangs somewhere around Billings. Great photos!

  6. Sandy, I think I want to adopt Shaft(Jedediah) because it’s like he’s the horse I have dreamt of owning or he and I belong together

  7. Whenever I look at that picture of Kayenta and War Bonnet I can’t help but notice how similar their faces are. They’re two pretty girls!
