Mountain Update, The Dryhead, May 18, 2012

We arrived in Lovell early in the afternoon.  It was pouring rain and windy.  So we decided to head up the paved road of the Dryhead.

The first horses that we saw were the “Greeters”, Hickok, Jesse James, Seneca and Hightail.

Despite the rain I got out.  Covered my camera with my raincoat and took what photos I could.  They were very active.  More active than what I had seen them ever be.  I wonder how much longer Hickok is going to allow Jesse James to remain with this band.

We kept driving.  At Mustang Flats we saw Hawk and Issaquah far in the distance.  With the rain we decided not to hike to them.  I was glad we decided to keep moving because the next horse I saw was Merlin!  I had not seen Merlin for a long time.  The fall of 2010, was the last time.  Merlin is my filly Valerosa’s father.  I knew that his mare Fresia had her colt, and I was happy to see them!

We spent a long time with this band.  Montana was really fun to watch.  It started to rain harder, so we headed down the road to see who else we could see.

On our way out we saw Medicine Bow and Joseph.  It was raining pretty hard, but I snapped a couple photos.
